RESIDENTS living on or close to the route of the proposed HS2 high speed rail line through South Yorkshire are being asked for their views about compensation.
The Government has not yet finalised what packages will be available, although Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has said they are likely to be similar to the first phase of the network between London and Birmingham.
The compensation scheme for phase one is the value of houses before the route was announced plus 10 per cent.
Compensation for phase two will not be confirmed until the exact route is set at the end of next year.
However, consultation is underway about a hardship scheme for the route through South Yorkshire to help people who need to move but cannot sell their homes sooner.
