HUNDREDS of school leavers donned gowns to mark the end of their schooldays at Balby Carr School.
A total of 150 former students were involved in the Year 11 graduation ceremony, which saw them each receive diploma certificates. Jessica Carr, one of the Year 11 students, was a speaker at the ceremony, and Julia Cotterill, who chairs the school’s board of governors, was the guest who presented the students with their certificates.
Mary Firth, Year 11 learning community manager at the school, said the ceremony was a fitting celebration of the real endeavour the group had demonstrated over the last five years.
She said: “Their bright blue gradation caps and gowns were worn with real pride and an atmosphere of real warmth, reflecting the true spirit of Balby Carr, was generated across an assembled audience of over 400, including families, friends, and teachers.”
She said it had been an honour and privilege to be part of the pupils’ lives during their time at the school.
