RESIDENTS claimed they have suffered ‘hate mail’ and abuse from neighbours after trying to start a campaign for their street to be included in a permit parking area.
A meeting of Sheffield Council’s cabinet highways committee heard that Clarence Road, Hillsborough, had been excluded from the area’s new scheme, which restricts non-residents from parking on side streets, because the majority of people living there said they did not want to have to pay for permits.
But new residents have since moved in and want to be included in the scheme.
One resident said: “We attempted to try to start a campaign but had abuse from other people on the street.”
John Bann, Sheffield Council’s head of highways, said the street would be considered for inclusion in the scheme once it is reviewed in six months.
