A former Sheffield student took a trip down memory lane when she attended the first wedding at her old halls of residence.
Nancy – the daughter of singer Martin Fry, from Sheffield band ABC – revisited Halifax Hall in Endcliffe for the nuptials of cousin Lucy Bradley and her groom Fes Akhtar.
It was the first wedding at the former University of Sheffield halls, which was originally a Victorian mansion and has been transformed into a boutique hotel in a £1.8m revamp.
Nancy, who lived in the halls during her first term from 2009 to 2010 and attended the wedding with her parents, said: “It was a lovely experience.
“I got to visit my student haunt, totally transformed into a wonderful setting for my cousin Lucy’s wedding.
“When she threw the bouquet I caught it so who knows? I might be back in the near future!”
More than 100 couples, including many former students, have tied the knot at University of Sheffield venues over the past few years.
Chartered surveyor Lucy, of Nether Edge, and solicitor Fes chose to marry at Halifax Hall because of its ‘unique location, beautiful gardens and outdoor space’.
The hotel offers bespoke wedding planning services as part of the university.
