Gun threat in attempted robbery of gold chain

A man was threatened with a gun in an attempted robbery.

Police say a 28-year-old man had arranged to meet two white men on Blyth Close, Whiston, Rotherham, to sell a gold chain.

One allegedly produced a handgun, pointed it at the man and said: “Pass me the chain or I will shoot you.”

The man fled and no property was taken.

The suspect with the gun was in his 40s, 6ft, fat, with a round face and brown goatee-style facial hair.

He was bald and wearing a cream fleece, dark blue trousers and brown steel toe-capped boots.

The second man was 5ft 11ins, medium build, with dark brown hair and wearing a blue baseball cap, blue jacket and dark tracksuit bottoms with brown steel toe-capped boots. 
The incident happened at 9am on Sunday, June 9. Call police on 101.
