Group aims to improve health

Have your say

DOCTORS, politicians and health professionals joined together to form a new shadow health and wellbeing board to have a say on how NHS money will be spent.

The board, which includes leaders from Sheffield Council and the NHS Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group, has held its first meeting and will meet monthly ‘to discuss how it can improve the health and wellbeing of local people through the services they commission’.

One important task will be to produce a joint health and wellbeing strategy, which will propose how money should be spent to encourage healthy living and improve neighbourhoods.

Sheffield Council leader Coun Julie Dore, board joint chairman, said: “The board brings together a wealth of expertise and we’ll concentrate on reducing health inequalities.”
