FIFTY four greyhounds will travel from Ireland to Sheffield for one of the nation’s biggest greyhound auctions this weekend.
The greyhounds will show their pedigree by hoping to set their fastest track times to achieve their best sale price at the national greyhound auction at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium.
They will compete on Sunday in a track trial at 11am followed by an auction at 1.30pm at the city stadium, which is on Penistone Road.
The auction is expected to attract owners and trainers from across the country and buyers purchase greyhounds in Guineas.
The stadium record price is 7,500 Guineas for a greyhound but exceptional animals can often change hands for prices in excess of £100,000.
