ENVIRONMENTALISTS are calling on Sheffield University to ‘green up’ its act.
Sheffield Green Party is calling on the institution to improve its environmental record after coming near the bottom of the People and Planet’s Green League for 2011. It dropped 28 places to 114th of 138 universities. Hallam moved up seven places to 27th.
Sheffield University Green Party Student Society officer Brian Webster said: “The banned sale of bottled water in the students’ union shows how seriously students take environmental issues.
“But heat and emissions are pouring out of poorly insulated buildings. This should serve as a wake-up call for university management.”
