APPROVAL has been given for 55 new apartments for older people at Foolow Court in the Rother area of Chesterfield.
Derbyshire County Council is developing the new homes in partnership with Chevin Housing Association Ltd - a not-for-profit housing association.
The development will have self-contained apartments for independent living, together with communal facilities for residents.
They will include a café-restaurant, a lounge area, a community meeting room, a therapy room and a hair salon.
A county council staff team will also be based at the complex to provide care and support services and organise social events.
