Green for go at primary school

ALL things environmental came under the spotlight as a Sheffield primary held a Green Day.

Pupils and staff at Oughtibridge Primary got things off on the right foot by walking to school and many wore green too - some from head to toe.

A special guest was Kate Hudson from Veolia who gave a talk about Wise Waste, while visitors from the Big Art Company created a massive 'pebble art' tree incorporating leaves made by every child.

In electricity-free classrooms older pupils watched as a huge ice block polar cap melted before their eyes, taking endangered species with it.

These endangered animals and other creatures were also created from waste materials by the Year 5 and 6 pupils in a project entitled Animals Aren't Rubbish.

Younger children took part in an outdoor fashion show featuring clothes they had made from recycled garments, and they also created over 120 green feet which walked around school to represent their environmental footprints.
