Great skates at iceSheffield

SHEFFIELD skaters showed their steel with razor-sharp performances at the British Championships held at iceSheffield.

Junior mens skater Lawrence Evans, aged 18, and senior dance couple Chrissy Chitwood, 19, and Mark Hanretty, 24, clinched bronze in the hotly contested competition.

Chrissy and Mark, who both live in the city centre, and Lawrence from, Cheshire, train at the nationally-renowned venue in Attercliffe.

They competed alongside 112 novice, junior and senior skaters in the six-day event, the best turn out of competitors ever recorded.

The Championships were the last before the 2010 Winter Olympics and judges used performances to help decisions for February's Winter Olympics.
