The table continues to make sorry viewing with our local clubs all fighting for their Championship lives.

We took a four-figure bet on Leeds United at 1/2 earlier in the month for the Whites to finish the season as the top Yorkshire club and they are now 2/5 at BetVictor to finish the term as the top side in the region with Huddersfield 5/2, Doncaster Rovers 14s, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley both 33s. Rovers are 10/11 to be the top South Yorkshire side with Wednesday and the Reds both 5/2.

Both the Owls and the Tykes remain without a manager and we can’t split the Stuarts Pearce and Gray at 3/1 with Alex McLeish 4s for Hillsborough; Micky Mellon is 7/4 to be the next boss at Oakwell but in the short term Barnsley face a vital game with Yeovil on Saturday and one which you feel they must get something from.

The Tykes are 23/20 favourites for the game with the Glovers 5/2 and the draw at 13/5. Barnsley remain 1/2 for relegation with Yeovil 4/7, Wednesday Evens and Rovers 6/4.

The Owls travel to Vicarage Road to meet a Watford side without a win in eight although they have picked up valuable points at Turf Moor and Elland Road in their last two fixtures.

Watford are odds on at 3/4 to keep the points down south with the Owls 4/1 and the draw at 3s;. Given the Hornets recent woes Wednersday ought to be looking for at least a point before they face a pair of back-to-back home games in the run up to Christmas.

Rovers entertain Leeds in a cracking Yorkshire derby and I think the visitors are too short at 11/10 with Rovers 27/10 and the draw at 13/5.

We fancySheffield United to maintain their excellent recent run when they entertain Swindon. United are 29/20 for the win with the visitors 21/10 and the draw 12/5; the Blades are 33/1 to gain promotion at the end of the campaign and this would be some feat.

Chesterfield are 4/1 for the JPT after their penalty shoot-out success over Oldham at Boundary Park with Peterborough 6/4 favourites, Swindon 5/2 and Rotherham’s conquerors Fleetwood also 4/1.

The Millers are 8/1 for back-to-back promotions ahead of the visit to Bristol City and we can’t split the sides at 7/4 with the draw 12/5. A 2-1 win for the visitors is priced at 10/1 at BetVictor and that looks the value.
