Community groups close to South Yorkshire’s newest wind farm are being invited to apply for grants.
The recently-constructed Penny Hill Wind Farm, near Ulley, will stand for at least 25 years and, during that time, owner Banks Renewables will provide more than £500,000 of community funding.
Groups are being invited to apply for the first round of handouts.
Phil Dyke, development director at Banks Renewables, said: “Our aim is to provide benefits to the surrounding communities.
“This first tranche of funding awards is just the beginning of the positive benefit that the Penny Hill scheme will provide to the facilities enjoyed in the surrounding communities.”
n Groups who want to apply for grants of up to £3,000 should call 0191 3786342.
