Graffiti policy welcomed

GOOD practice in the battle to rid Sheffield of graffiti has been highlighted in a report.

This has included engaging young people in diversionary activities, such painting murals in skate parks or on shop shutters.

Community Action Weeks, in which tagging was removed from areas including Manor and Stannington, were also praised as were efforts to encourage communities to monitor areas prone to the problem and gather evidence against offenders.

The report is to be presented to a meeting of Sheffield Council’s Successful Neighbourhoods Scrutiny Board, on Thursday.
