In reply to Brian Sheridan’s letter (May 17) regarding David Laws MP: being treated leniently because he was a homosexual and a millionaire is not the real issue.
If Mr Sheridan read David Laws’s admission on why he ‘stole’ £50,000 of our money he would realise it was Laws himself who mentioned and gave the excuse that because he was homosexual he did this to hide that fact and also to protect his partner.
The real issue is he £50,000 of taxpayers’ money and got away with it. If Eric Illsley had used the excuse he was heterosexual after stealing £14,000 would he have been allowed to carry on as an MP?
I think not. Is Mr Sheridan a do-gooder, establishment lover or a Lib-Dem?
