Good Luck Charm lands Sheffield punter win of a lifetime

William Hill

William Hill Orchard Street

AT least one person in Sheffield will have a smile as wide as the Wicker Arches today after scooping a massive win on the horses.

The lucky punter landed the bet of a lifetime when he turned a £10 each way bet into £122,550.

The man walked into William Hill’s city centre shop on Orchard Street and correctly predicted the winners of four races from Southwell, Taunton and Kempton for his £20 stake.

The first winner, Dormouse, romped home at 4/1 in the 3.10pm at Taunton

It was followed by two 20/1 winners when Flying Pickets and Ace of Spies grabbed wins in Southwell at 3.20pm and 3.50pm.

The punter, who wishes to remain anonymous, then had a nervous wait until the 7.55pm at Kempton when Good Luck Charm did exactly what it says on the tin by romping home at 9/2.

And the lucky gambler could have done even better.

He placed an each way fivefold with one non-runner – Cadeaux Pearl at Southwell.

If Cadeaux Pearl won at 14/1, he would have scooped William Hill’s maximum horse payout of £1million.

But if the horse had not been placed he would have walked away with nothing.

William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: “Had our mystery punter had five runners he could have been a millionaire or he could have won nothing.

“As it stands, however, we are sure he will be happy with his day’s investment.”
