Six friends from Sheffield have raised £930 for charity by doing a sponsored hod carry dressed as gladiators.

Andrew Field, aged 32, of Woodseats, organised the event to raise money for Cancer Research UK because two of his close friends have suffered from the disease.

For the first part of the hod carry, the men walked eight miles around Sheffield, starting and ending their journey at The Abbey pub, Woodseats.

Andrew, James Curry, David Pinder, Keith Ellis, Shaun Gartland and Chris Butcher took three hours and 10 minutes to complete the walk. They then staged a fun day at Laycock Sports Club, which included a singer, bouncy castle, barbecue, raffle and sponsored five-a-side football.
