Girl, three, in road smash

A THREE-year-old girl is critical but stable in Sheffield Children’s Hospital after she was in collision with a car.

The accident happened late on Saturday morning at the junction of Bennetthorpe and Roman Road in Doncaster, when the girl stepped into the path of a black BMW 520, travelling towards the racecourse.

The girl, who is from Drumcree in Ireland, suffered a serious head injury after being struck by the front offside wing of the vehicle.

She was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary and later transferred to the Children’s Hospital.
