Girl, 13, stabbed near play area
A TEENAGE girl was critically ill last night after an alleged stabbing incident in a Doncaster park.
The whole of Elmfield Park was sealed off to the public from lunchtime yesterday after the incident was reported to police at 1.18pm by the girl.
The 13-year-old was found badly injured near the play area and paramedics gave first aid before she was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary in a “critical” condition.
Her parents were notified and immediately went up to the DRI to be with her.
“All we know at this stage is that she was found near the play area obviously unwell and we have established she has been stabbed in the abdomen,” said Det Insp Dave Mayfield, of Doncaster CID.
“At this time we are still treating to establish where this happened, we do not know for sure that it was in the park. We would obviously like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around lunchtime.”
A 26-year-old woman was later arrested on suspicion of wounding and was last night being questioned.
Anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident 438 of February 14 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
