A GIRL aged 10 is fighting for life in hospital after she was hit by a car as she tried to cross a Rotherham road.
The youngster was airlifted by helicopter to Sheffield Children’s Hospital where medics described her fractured skull and broken arm and leg as ‘life threatening’ injuries.
South Yorkshire Police said the girl and another child were trying to cross Nursery Road, Dinnington.
They stepped into the road, back onto the pavement, and then the 10-year-old walked back into the road again into the path of an oncoming Volvo S60 travelling towards North Anston.
The collision, around 20 metres from the junction with Park Avenue, was reported at 1pm on Tuesday.
