Volunteers spent the morning stuffing shoeboxes full of food and toiletries to send to members of the armed forces.
The event, organised to mark Armed Forces Day last Saturday, was held at Co-op Funeralcare on Suffolk Road, Sheffield.
Tracey Wilson, funeral director at the branch said: “It’s important we do things like this. It’s good for the community coming together and for the troops at the front.
“We decided to collect and donate items the soldiers out in Afghanistan need or might be short of.”
She said the idea came after Funeralcare was involved with Corporal Liam Riley’s funeral service, at Sheffield Cathedral in March 2010, who was killed in Afghanistan.
