Police have been urged to do ‘whatever it takes’ to make sure law-abiding families in a troubled Sheffield community can live a ‘normal life’.
Brightside and Hillsborough MP David Blunkett urged police to get tough on those responsible for violence in Page Hall, Sheffield, after a mass brawl broke out on the streets.
Mr Blunkett, whose constituency covers the estate, said: “My heart goes out to those who have to put up with this.
“Whatever it takes, we have got to ensure they can have some semblance of normal life.”
The former Home Secretary called for a visible police presence in the evenings and a ‘rapid reaction’ at the slightest sign of trouble.
