A SURVEY showed 90 per cent of Sheffield people think green energy should be generated locally, campaigners say.
Friends of the Earth said its research also revealed the majority of residents believed solar panels on roofs or wind farms owned by communities were a way to create renewable power in local areas.
Two out of three of the 120 people surveyed thought the UK should invest most in getting power from the sun, waves or wind.
The survey was carried out at the Hallamshire and Northern General Hospitals as well as Heeley City Farm in the summer.
It was done as part of the Friends’ Final Demand campaign, against energy companies controlling fuel prices.
