Gatecrasher coming back to Sheffield for massive Boxing Day reunion club night

Tickets are now on sale for the eagerly anticipated homecoming, which has an all-star line-up of top DJs.

The event will be held in the former Embrace nightclub in the city centre,23 years after the original house mecca spun its opening beats in the steel city.

The Rebooted arena line-up will feature a more modern twist. The line-up includes: Aly & Fila; Solarstone; Jordan Suckley; Will Atkinson; Freedom Fighters; Dan Stone; Ben lost; with special guest Astrix

In the 23 Years of Gatecrasher Arena are: Aly & Fila doing a 23 Years Of Gatecrasher set; Solarstone with a producer set; Scott Bond; Oliver Lieb; James Alexander; and special guest The Thrillseekers.

Spawned in Birmingham, the Gatecrasher brand relocated to Sheffield’s Leadmill, The Arches and The Adelphi before, 20 summers ago, finding a permanent home at two-storey converted warehouse The Republic that seven years later benefited from £1.5 million refurb as Gatecrasher One.

Bespoke Opus sound system, trio of DJ booths and quality laser equipment remained hallmarks of a venue whose signature raised walkway ran from foyer to upstairs room, also boasting Electric Box and VIP Pod sections as well as focal point balconied main room.

But on June 18, 2007, the building was ablaze and partially collapsed, with smoke seen across the city. Demolition followed but only after clubbers had held an emotional wake with one message reading ‘The music, the lights, the spirit of the people. We will always remember you’.

And as if it couldn’t get any better for Sheffield’s former – and current – ravers, it looks like Niche is set to return.

While the old Niche nightclub was demolished earlier this year, a freshly painted building in Sheffield city centre appears to be the new location for NICHE nightclub, known for playing garage, underground house and bassline music.

The building, on Walker Street, off Derek Dooley Way, forms part of the line of businesses under the Wicker Arches.

The former club on Sidney Street, Sheffield, opened in 1992 but the club was closed in 2005 after a police raid.

Before its demolition earlier this year the building had stood empty for over a decade.
