AN ATHLETIC teen could lift the Olympic flame in a once-in-a-lifetime experience as it journeys across the country this year.
Bridie Hamilton, who lives in Meetinghouse Croft, Sheffield, has made it through to the final stage of becoming a London 2012 Olympic torchbearer after Coca-Cola searched for young people with a passion for sport, music or the community.
The keen runner, 16, is a pupil at Handsworth Grange School and hopes to run the London Marathon in future as well as climbing Mount Everest.
All nominees will now need to confirm acceptance of their place with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games before the final London 2012 Olympic torchbearers are confirmed by March 2012.
Coca-Cola chiefs praised the ‘overwhelming’ number of ‘outstanding’ nominees.
