Mourners will gather for a moment’s silence tomorrow at the scene of a harrowing murder before the funeral of Dimitrina Borisova.
Dimitrina, aged 46, the mother of a two-year-old child, was stabbed to death on Blackstock Road in Gleadless Valley, Sheffield, on February 21.
Tomorrow, two-and-a-half months on from her death, her funeral cortege will pause at the scene opposite the Gaunt Road shopping parade and bus terminus, where funeral director Michael Fogg will lay flowers.
Anyone moved by the tragedy is invited to pay their respects when the hearse stops at 9.30am tomorrow.
The procession will then continue to City Road Crematorium for a service at 10.15am.
Mr Fogg said: “I hope a good number of people do come to the scene, and pause for a moment’s silence.
“This girl deserves a dignified and respectful funeral, and that is what she will get.
“Everything has taken so long to arrange because the coroner had to be satisfied the funeral could go ahead, and because the family do not live in England.
“They came over from Bulgaria at the time it happened, but I haven’t been told they are coming for the funeral. Her ashes will be returned to Bulgaria afterwards.”
Witnesses to the horror were offered counselling after running outside to help as Dimitrina was stabbed repeatedly and lay dying.
Turkish national Erhan Mehmedov, aged 44, of Blackstock Road, has been charged with Dimitrina’s murder.
