Funding boost for swimmers
New poolside equipment is set to make it easier for disabled people to use facilities at leisure centres in north east Derbyshire, thanks to a £60,000 funding boost.
Three advanced mobile hoists will be available for use at Sharley Park Leisure Centre, Dronfield Sports Centre and Eckington Swimming Pool, to help people from changing rooms into the pools.
A new ground-floor disabled area is also being created at Sharley Park to improve access to the swimming pool and provide a contact area for young people and their families or carers.
The equipment is being bought after North East Derbyshire District Council secured a grant from the Aiming High for Children scheme, which helps disabled children and young people get out and share leisure experiences.
