YOUNG people in Sheffield who spend time caring for relatives have received support from staff at a city opticians.
Sheffield Young Carers have been awarded £500 from Specsavers in Crystal Peaks shopping centre, and will use the money to fund activities and days out.
It is hoped activities including residential trips, swimming and bowling will give carers the chance to develop skills and gain confidence.
Gil Vasey, Specsavers director, said: “We are delighted to be making a donation to such a worthwhile charity.
“Sheffield Young Carers is the Sheffield Chamber Of Commerce’s charity of the year and, as a chamber council member myself, I wanted to pledge our practice’s support to the organisation and the young carers that access the services it provides.
“We are a proud to support the young carers in Sheffield.”
