MORE than 200 trees and 60 metres of hedgerow have been planted in a Sheffield suburb by helpers and workers from organisation Community Forestry.

Leonie Kapadia, Community Forestry project development officer, spent two days with Shire Brook Conservation Group members and locals, planting at Brunswick Fields in Woodhouse.

Lord Mayor, Coun John Campbell, showed his support by planting the first whips alongside a brook.

Leonie said: “As trees are facing more threats from pests and diseases, and many older trees are reaching the end of their lives, it is important to ensure sufficient trees are planted for future generations.”
