Fun day pulls in crowds - SLIDESHOW

PULL a little harder mate - we're having fun in the sun.

It didn't matter how old they were, what they were wearing or what their fitness levels were like, everyone at the family fun day in Manor Fields District Park got carried away with the entertainment yesterday.

More than 300 people went along to the event and were extra sure to make the most of it after last year's fun day was completely rained off.

The tug of war proved a huge attraction with scores of people - including police officers - joining in and showing off their strength.

There were also races for all ages, with some youngsters being carried by older family members in a bid to cross the finish line first.

There was lots to keep sport lovers busy with a bungee run, children's running competitions and a section dedicated to health and fitness.

The G-Flex Dance Troop strutted their stuff to the delight of onlookers and other entertainment included a pets corner, arts and crafts and a barbecue

Manor Fields community development officer Rebecca Houghton said the event had been a great success and lots of people had turned out to have some fun.

She said: "We had everybody there from local people to families who had travelled from further afield and it went really well".

Organisers hope to have raised around 150 for Cancer Research once all the counting is over.
