MUSIC of all flavours had a Sheffield community dancing to the beat of youngsters’ drums.

Sheffield Park Academy’s community day saw performances from pupils, including its choir, dancer, cheerleaders, samba band and general music band.

Staff and students mixed with residents from the Manor and Darnall communities who came to enjoy the event.

A football tournament for primary school pupils, penalty shootouts and other games were also on the timetable.

And a raffle raised more than £180 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, the school’s nominated charity this year.

Principal Maria Nightingale said: “It was a wonderful event and thankfully the weather was kind to us despite this changeable summer climate. We had lots of staff, students and also members of the public from both the Manor and Darnall communities.

“There was a great atmosphere!

“Representatives from the Darnall Children’s centre, the Every Child Matters team, South Sheffield Regeneration and the British Red Cross also attended, which really added to the ‘community’ atmosphere,” she said.
