Playing in the street could be making a comeback - with a pilot scheme running in Doncaster.

Organisations including Doncaster Council are looking to revive street play as a way to improve community spirit, reduce anti-social behaviour and help people become healthier and more active, and has trialled an afternoon of fun and games on Balfour Road, Bentley. The street was closed to traffic for the event.

Now they are hoping that, with the right community organisation, it could become popular.

Doncaster Councillor Pat Knight said: “Playing out in the street after school used to be an everyday experience for children who made friends, learnt new games and got to know their neighbourhood safely.”
