Full house in crime fight

Have your say

POLICE are hoping for a full house when they visit Mecca Bingo in Chesterfield to give out crime prevention and safety advice.

Members of Chesterfield Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team will be visiting the bingo hall on Foljambe Road on Saturday to warn people against pickpockets.

They will also be handing out purse chains to help people keep their cash safe.

PCSO Tiffany Hall, who organised the event, said: “A lot of the people who visit the bingo hall are older ladies who are sadly often the targets of this type of crime.

“It will be an informal, interactive afternoon but we have an important message to send out.

“We need people to be vigilant, particularly when it comes to handbags and personal items and help us prevent purse thefts taking place.”
