Friends' tribute to 'amazing lad'

FRIENDS of Matthew Cryer will remember their pal with a minute's silence at a sports ground where he used to play football.

Friends of the keen Sheffield Wednesday supporter plan to wear t-shirts with his photo printed on them and they have all signed a Wednesday flag they plan to present to his grieving family.

Pals have also paid tribute to the youngster on a website they set up in his memory.

They describe him as a young man with a great sense of humour.

The site, which already has more than 100 members, says: "He will always be remembered as a person who had great sense of humour - if you were around him you would be laughing.

"He brought joy to his friends and everyone around him."

One friend refers to him as an "amazing lad" and another tribute posted on the site said: "You seemed to get everyone laughing and messing about".

Another says: "All the time we've known you you've always been a laugh. We've had so many good times together we'll never forget them.

"You are such a special person and will always be in our heart, this shouldn't have happened to you - you'll never be forgotten."

One message posted by a Burger King colleague says: "All of us at work could not believe what we were told. Why did this happen to such a great person?

"He is a true and loyal friend who would do anything for anyone.

"I have only known Matt for a short period of time. But in that time we always had a laugh. He is a true friend who didn't have a bad word about anyone.

"He will always be missed and loved."
