Another vacancy on Bawtry Town Council has arisen after Coun Kate Sleight announced she is standing down.
Council clerk Jennifer Worthington has advised residents that, in accordance with the Local Government Act, if within 14 days at least 10 electors of the parish request that a poll should be held, then the vacancy will be filled by this method.
If no poll is requested then the vacancy will be filled by co-option whereby individuals that are interested in becoming a member write in to the council.
Councillors then hold a secret ballot at their public monthly meeting to select the most suitable person.
The previous casual vacancy on Bawtry Town Council in May prompted the holding of a poll - the first held in the town in living memory.
