A South Yorkshire shopping centre is set to get shoppers in the festive spirit - by inviting local choirs to come along for a seasonal sing-song.

Frenchgate Shopping Centre wants local choirs and carol singers to bring some Christmas cheer to shoppers by performing during the day.

The centre can only accommodate acoustic musicians and unaccompanied or ‘a cappella’ choirs due to location availability, but welcomes all performing individuals or groups to apply for a spot to entertain shoppers.

The choirs will be part of the centre’s programme of Christmas events and activities which will be officially launched on November 15.

Heidi Barlow, marketing manager at the centre, said: “We’re getting into the festive spirit at the centre already and are keen for our customers to enjoy a sing-a-long while they shop.

“We’re expecting the choirs and carol singers to be a real Christmas hit! In particular, we’re looking for local talent to perform as part of our official Christmas Launch on Saturday 15 November when the centre will be filled with lots of free, festive entertainment.”

Successful choirs will be able to perform at Frenchgate from November 15 up to and including Christmas Eve.

Any choirs interested in performing at Frenchgate should email with details and preferred choice of date.
