Freelance boom for city workers

Sheffield has been named as one of the top three locations in Britain when it comes to growth in the number of people working as freelances.

The study, carried out through the online freelance marketplace PeoplePerHour, found that the number of people freelancing in the city had grown by 139 per cent over the past 12 months.

Only Bradford and Leicester saw faster growth, according to PeoplePerHour, whose founder, Xenios Thrasyvoulou, says: “The surge in people selling and buying freelance services is not a coincidence – Britain’s labour market is going through a fundamental change.”
