TEACHERS and their families can visit castles, abbeys and historic houses around the region for free during a special weekend event.
English Heritage are holding their first ever Teachers’ Weekend on May 7 and 8, with participating attractions including Bolsover Castle, Peveril Castle and Wingfield Manor.
The event is being run so that teachers can enjoy a day out with their own children while exploring potential school trip destinations.
Teachers should register at www.english-heritage.co.uk by April 22 to book a free pass, which will cover a maximum of four children aged up to 18.
The event is also taking place around the UK at sites such as Hadrian’s Wall and Dover Castle.
Sandra Stancliffe, English Heritage’s education director, said: “This is a great opportunity for teachers to try out places they’ve never visited themselves or never thought of taking their class to visit. We’re sure that once they see their potential they’ll be back with the rest of the school.”
