Shoppers in Sheffield are set for a festive gift of free parking in the city centre during the build-up to Christmas.
The city council has announced plans for shoppers to park for free from 2pm every Saturday until December 25.
The offer, which starts this Saturday, includes parking in on- and off-street spaces in the city centre and in the permit zones free of charge.
Coun Terry Fox, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “I’m pleased to announce this free parking in council-owned parking spaces every Saturday from 2pm up until Christmas.
“We want to do all we can to help shoppers and businesses alike. By providing this free car parking there’s even more reason to come into the city centre this Christmas.
“Please check the signs when you park to make sure your space is included in the scheme – they will be easy to spot with our special stickers on pay and display machines.”
