CYCLISTS can have their bikes security-marked free during a crime prevention day in Chesterfield.
The service will be on offer from 10am to 2pm on Saturday in New Square in the town centre.
The event has been organised by PCSO John Lockwood, from the Chesterfield Town Centre Safer Neighbourhood Team.
He has timed the event to coincide with the school summer holidays, when youngsters and families are most likely to be taking trips out on bicycles.
PCSO Lockwood said: “Getting your bike security marked can help deter some thieves as it makes them more difficult for them to be sold on.
“It can also help police to identify them as stolen and potentially trace them to their owners if they are recovered.”
