ROAD safety officers will be parking up at supermarkets to give parents the chance to check their child car seats are fitted correctly.
The officers, from Derbyshire County Council, will be carrying out the checks throughout February and March.
They will be at Sainsbury’s in Brimington on Thursday February 22 from 10am until 12.30pm and Morrisons in Chesterfield between 1.30pm and 4pm.
Further checks will be carried out at Morrisons in Staveley on Tuesday March 15 between 10am and 12.30pm and Sainsbury’s in Brimington between 1.30pm and 4pm.
On Wednesday March 23 officers will be at the Co-op in Bolsover between 10am and 12.30pm and Sainsbury’s in Dronfield from 1.30pm until 4pm.
The council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, Chris Jackson, said: “It’s crucial drivers understand the law about car seat safety not just for younger children but for youngsters up to 12.”
