A caretaker accused of causing the death of a two-year-old girl who fell to her death from a block of flats has been found guilty of her manslaughter and jailed for four years.

Robert Warner, aged 45, was in charge of maintaining the North Bank Flats on Willey Street, near the Wicker when Ryaheen Banimuslem fell to her death in June 2012.

He was found guilty of causing her death by gross negligence after a court heard he removed a glass panel from a fourth floor walkway to repair another broken panel on the same floor.

The tot, who was playing tig with her brother, ran along the walkway and fell through the gap left by the panel plunging to her death.

Warner of Shirehall Crescent, Shiregreen, was found guilty after four days of deliberations by a jury at Sheffield Crown Court.
