Four motorcyclists died on Derbyshire’s roads over the weekend, police have revealed.

A Sheffield man, aged 46 and two Chesterfield men, aged 45 and 49, lost their lives in a collision involving two motorbikes on the A61 at Wingerworth.

The crash, near the Hunloke Arms, was reported to emergency services at 3pm on Saturday, and when police and paramedics arrived they discovered that two riders and one passenger had been killed.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the smash is underway.

The fourth motorcyclist killed on the roads over the weekend was involved in a separate incident on the same day.

Police said a 53-year-old Derbyshire man was killed when a Suzuki motorbike and a red Renault Megane collided on Strines Road, near Strines Edge, north Derbyshire, at 6pm.

Officers also are investigating the circumstances surrounding that collision.

Both collisions led to lengthy road closures.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call the Derbyshire Police on 101.
