Four-car smash closes M1 junction near Sheffield

A four-car smash on the M1 near Sheffield tonight resulted in a slip-road being closed, according to a man involved in the collision.

James Savage posted pictures of the incident on Twitter, adding: “Here’s why J36 of the M1 was closed tonight. I was car #3 in a 4 car sandwich. I’m fine.”

He said the incident happened at the traffic lights coming off the motorway at the slip-road near High Green, while he was waiting at the traffic lights.

The man said two people were taken to hospital from the incident, which happened at about 8.20pm.

He added: “I was stationary at lights, someone went into car behind me pretty fast. Drivers of those two cars went to A+E, others fine.”
