LOSING your phone line at any time is bad enough, but being without it over Christmas and New Year ‘ruined’ the festive season for Jean Mordaunt, aged 68.
Jean, who has a pay-as-you-go mobile, had to restrict expensive calls and send texts instead.
And it was her birthday on New Year’s Day.
The problem started on December 9 when contractors cut a cable serving six houses on Harborough Avenue, Manor.
BT fixed the line on January 7, but not before an earlier attempt saw the wrong cable installed.
A spokeswoman said: “Boxes are packed with cables and this does happen very occasionally. I apologise for this further delay.”
