THE hunt is on for more foster parents in Doncaster.

Events will be running across the borough over the next two weeks to encourage more people to get involved with looking after children for short periods.

Events started today with an information day at Doncaster market. Other events are at Balby Children’s Centre on Monday, Thorne Children’s Centre on Wednesday, The Ivanhoe Centre, Conisbrough, on Thursday, and Bentley Children’s Centre on Friday.

One carer in Doncaster who has fostered more than 100 children, backed the campaign anonymously, saying: “About 11 years ago we were asked to look after a teenage girl under 10 and we took her in and she stayed with us until she was almost 16.

“She has graduated from university, got married with my husband walking her down the aisle and I was with her when she had her first baby scan.

“She is now a police constable and we are so proud of what she has achieved.”
