A PAINTING by celebrated artist David Hockney is finally to go on display at Chatsworth House - more than 40 years after being bought by the Duke of Devonshire.

The painting - ‘Le Parc des Sources, Vichy’ - features the artist’s friends Peter Schlesinger and Ossie Clark seated in a French park.

It was finished by Hockney in 1970 and will take pride of place in Chatsworth’s new North Sketch Gallery.

The Duke and Duchess bought the painting in 1970 in London. “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to put this wonderful painting on public display at Chatsworth at long last,” the Duke said.
