A former Sheffield radio presenter has today admitted murdering his partner at their north Notts home.

Geoffrey Hemming, aged 52, of Hazelwood Drive, Hucknall, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court to stabbing Denise Williamson to death on July 5 this year.

Hemming, who worked as a freelance presenter on Sheffield-based Magic AM until May, will be sentenced at the same court on January 27.

He also worked as a driving instructor, giving lessons to a daughter of a resident on neighbouring road, Bolingey Way.

The incident took place at around 8.15pm on the evening of July 5 when Miss Williamson was taken to hospital with serious stab wounds but pronounced dead soon after arrival.

Judge Stokes must now determine the minimum prison sentence that must be served by Hemming before he can apply for parole.
