A former lap dancing club in Chesterfield town centre could be sold.

The licence holder of Krystals, in Knifesmithgate, wants to sell the club.

A public notice on the proposal appeared in the December 25 edition of the Derbyshire Times.

A spokesman for Chesterfield Borough Council said: “Although Krystals has been closed for some months, the sexual entertainment venue licence and premises licence have both been maintained.

“The public notice has been placed because of the transfer of the licence to allow the premises to be sold.”

The Derbyshire Times asked the spokesman if the premises would still have to be used as a sexual entertainment venue upon being sold.

He said: “It will not necessarily have to be used as a sexual entertainment venue – the licence could be allowed to lapse or be terminated at the request of a new owner.

“If the sexual entertainment venue licence was terminated but the premises licence maintained, it could potentially be opened as a bar or a restaurant.”

Those wishing to object or support the plan should write to Licensing, Chesterfield Borough Council, Customer Service Centre, 85 New Square, Chesterfield, S40 1AH by Monday, January 19.
