PLANS to install footpath lighting at a cost of £12,500 were last night due to be approved by a Sheffield Council community assembly.
The proposals involve paths in the Barbers Field area of Woodseats and are being funded by contributions from developers in the surrounding area.
Some £9,250 has been given by a company developing land off Little London Road, while £3,337 has come from a company building at Meadowhead Avenue.
Following the expected decision to allocate the funding by the council’s South community assembly at its meeting yesterday, design and procurement work is due to take place so the lighting can be installed.
A further contribution of £5,562 made by developers of land on Psalter Lane, Nether Edge, will fund improvements to Endcliffe Park.
Sheffield Council officers said that the money has now been received from all three of the developers.
A spokesman for the council said: “Higher quality open spaces will result from this use of developers’ contributions to improve safety.”
